Personal Genomics and the HealthFabric Repository
Ever wanted to discover what your genetic sequence is? A company called 23andMe, started by Linda Avey and Anne Wojcicki, can generate an entire genome single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) analysis for only $99! With an excellent, user-friendly interface, you can then view your results and see if there is any information about your genetic risk for several types of illnesses. While this service is a great product for consumers to view their health data, and some individuals have even open-sourced their information, combining this data into a research platform could offer an extremely valuable tool for researchers. In the coming weeks, we will be launching a repository where users can donate their SNP and basic health information to researchers using our HealthFabric platform. If you are interested in participating, please contact us at genomes@agilemedicine.com.
